Strathmore Secondary College aims to provide students with an engaging, enriching and enjoyable education; one that fosters the personal, academic and social development of the individual and allows access to fulfilling post school options. Its student population has an overall high socio-economic profile based on the Student Family Occupation Index and a mid to low proportion of students with English as a second language. The College’s community is focused on achievement for their children and the overriding outcome sought is access to post secondary education and training. The College continues to face the significant challenge of having a student population well above that for which the permanent facilities were designed. These additional enrolments place significant pressure on specialist rooms, support spaces and recreational areas. A marked change in the College's staffing profile has occurred in recent years, with a high percentage of the current staff joining the College within the last five years. The College's central development focus is the use of research based strategies to enable teaching staff to improve instructional practice. Success in this work will benefit both student achievement and connectedness. Strathmore is home to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre.
