At Torquay you will find a culture of respect underpinned by 3Rs - respect for self, others and our environment, and responsible choices. The innovative Yrs 6/7 Pathways Program allows students to select one of 5 pathways of learning and allows them to achieve the essential learnings for each of the 8 KLAs. The Building the Education Revolution provides facilities that cater for each Pathway. We are a green school whose environmental focus and commitment is about reducing the ecological footprint and we have won recognition through Westpac Landcare Awards for our innovative practice in educating students about environmental issues. In incorporating into the school solar panels, worm farms, rainwater tanks and a retrofit we are achieving our students' vision. As a research-led school we have developed explicit programs for literacy, numeracy and Science that clearly articulate our expectations and targets for student achievement from P to 7. Staff teams engage in pedagogical planning using data to inform practice which allows for differentiation in their classes. Shared leadership is a feature of our school that has been developed and supported through our professional learning community.
