Melville Primary consists of 21 classrooms, a specialist music room, a centralised resource centre, a fully enclosed covered area encompassing a hall with a stage, a sports store room and a large canteen. Extensive play areas with climbing and activity equipment have been developed. A multi-purpose hard court area is surrounded by extensive grassed areas and an oval. The broader community provide outstanding support by way of social and fundraising ventures, as well as supporting teaching and learning programs as volunteers. We provide opportunities for students to participate in a relevant and enriching curriculum within a supportive environment, free from harassment and discrimination. Our goals are to have our students: * achieve above benchmark competencies in literacy and numeracy. * become independent learners. * be able to use high level thinking levels. * become active explorers through the inquiry process. We have specialist teachers in Physical Education, Science, Indonesian Years 3 to 7, and Music. The Year 3,5 and 7 NAPLAN results for 2009 were above the Australian average.
