Leeton Public School has an experienced, dedicated and caring staff who deliver diverse opportunities in a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment. We encourage and value positive parental support and enjoy extremely close links with our local community. We encourage all of our students to pursue personal excellence. Our staff recognise and cater for all unique student needs. The delivery of outstanding student welfare programs is a priority at our school. 'Buddy classes' ensure that students in the junior years interact in a positive way with senior students. Our merit system allows for students to achieve, excel and be appropriately recognised for terrific effort, participation, sportsmanship and citizenship. The school counsellor takes an active role in the emotional development of students and works closely with teachers to develop innovative welfare programs to ensure that student needs are being met. Other pastoral care initiatives have been implemented with success, including the 'Red Cap' program run by local Salvation Army personnel. This targets leadership skills, the development of self esteem and conflict resolution. The integrated teaching of core values across all areas of school life is highly recognised. We have a number of successful programs in place in order for students to excel in the core areas of literacy and numeracy. Jolly Phonics and Count Me In Too are just two such programs. Our school recognises that students have different interests and strengths. Programs at LPS are broad and varied. We have a high participation rate and a record of outstanding results in a number of inter-school sporting competitions. Currently we are the defending Riverina PSSA cricket champions and also have had numerous students reach Riverina and NSW level in athletics, swimming and cross country running. We have enjoyed success in regional spelling, chess, choir, debating and dance events. Students are exposed to many opportunities through our Interest Groups and major excursion program. We..
