East Launceston Primary school is situated in the eastern suburbs of Launceston and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2008. We currently have 555 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In recent years the school completed a 3 million dollar re-development which significantly upgraded classroom and administrative facilities. In 2010 we furthered developed the campus, re-furbishing our Kindergarten and Early Childhood rooms, building two new classrooms, and a new library. These up-to-date facilities provide outstanding educational learning spaces. As a school we have developed and published a vision underpinned by a set of core values which form the basis of all key resourcing and teaching and learning decisions. Our vision strongly focuses on pedagogy and practice through the key areas of our School Improvement Plan: Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Positive Behaviour Support. In addition to our Kindergarten to Grade 6 programs we also offer 0-4 years programs for our pre-school students and families. Our Parent Child program offers a weekly opportunity for parents and pre-schoolers to attend the Kindergarten and take part in a range of play based activities. We also offer Tiny Talkers, a literacy program for children from two to four years that focuses on the development of oral language skills and listening skills. To further support our learning we continually strive to offer a rich and diverse curriculum. Our senior students have successfully competed in the regional and national finals of the Robotics program including winning a state title in 2010. Our Student Enterprise program - Healthy Elpys gives senior students the opportunity to market, create and make, and run a healthy morning tea project 3 mornings a week from our fully equipped canteen. They also incorporate our school garden into this project. We have extended our focus in Science to include the Statewide Science Talent Search with outstanding results in 2011.
