Derrinallum P-12 College was created in 1994 when the Derrinallum Primary and High Schools merged. The College has approximately equal numbers of primary and secondary students and provides meaningful and successful pathways for students all the way through to Year 12. We are the sole provider of secondary education in the area and join with our neighbours at Lismore in the provision of primary education. The College services a rural community and a wide geographical area, with six buses bringing students to the College each day. An extensive revitalisation project has seen all of the College's generalist classrooms and library modernised over the past two years. College facilities include a large indoor stadium, specialist food technology, woodwork, metalwork, automotive, art and science rooms and spacious grounds. While the school incorporates a P-6 and a 7-12 sub-school, the primary and secondary students and staff share the one site and there are significant opportunities for students to socialise and learn in multi-age groups. Our primary students benefit from access to specialist teaching staff and facilities in key areas of health, physical education, art and LOTE. Our 12.7 teaching staff and 6.1 education support staff ensure an excellent staff:student ratio and enable us to provide a high level of pastoral care to each student, attending to their individual learning and well-being needs. The school has forged links with other education providers to further extend our curriculum offerings. The College runs a highly successful public speaking and debating program.
