Warrnambool College actively lives its vision of being innovative, promoting sustainable ways of living and creating a safe environment where learning is loved. We have worked to build strong curriculum based links with our local community as well as looking globally to seek best practice in teaching and learning. A broad improvement in teaching and learning spaces has occurred, the Science and Language Centre reflects an environment where a range of pedagogies can be employed. 2010 saw a great deal of preparation for the implementation of a new House System in 2011. This new structure shifts our student management to a structure where we have six smaller groupings, thus enabling a closer relationship to be developed with each child. 2010 saw the Clontarf Football Academy begin. This strategy has already made a difference to the attendance and retention of our indigenous males. Along with the Wannik strategy, we are proud of our achievements with all of our indigenous students. Our Families and Schools Together ( FAST) continues to be successful. It was conducted twice in 2010 and targeted over 20 families. The implementation of a Literacy /Numeracy coach who has worked with staff has also been a valuable addition to our strategies for building staff capacity. We achieved certification in a VET Cert 11 subject, Sustainable and Emerging Technologies, this was a source of great pride for us. We have a powerful focus on student leadership and an unrelenting focus on building staff capacity. Our staffing profile is - Principal Class x 3, Teachers 65.88, ES - 21.4.
