Tranby Primary School is located in the inner suburb of Rivervale, within the City of Belmont, only minutes away from the Perth city centre in a quiet residential area. It offers a primary education for students from Kindergarten to Year 7 with a current student enrolment of around 150. The student body is made up of approximately 53% Aboriginal and 47% non-Aboriginal students. The school is increasingly becoming multi-cultural with new enrolments coming from China, Sri Lanka, India, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Cameroon. Class sizes are smaller than most other schools, which allows us to work closely with all children. The school has an on-site kindergarten, which caters for both Aboriginal and non - Aboriginal students. We look forward to moving into our new Early Childhood building in 2011. Our objective is to provide the best possible teaching and learning environment for the intellectual, social, personal and physical development of every child. We have a strong focus on the explicit teaching of Literacy and Numeracy as we believe that these skills will empower our students to make positive changes to their lives. We place a great emphasis on the social and emotional wellbeing of our students and staff. Many of our programs are focussed on teaching skills which will equip students to participate as caring and productive members of our community.
