The Hendon School community is committed to providing quality teaching and learning. We work together to create a culture of ongoing improvement. All our students experience success in a broad, balanced, relevant and challenging curriculum that promotes lifelong learning. Our values are caring, equity, creativity, integrity and quality. Our major priorities are literacy, numeracy, science and Information Communication Technology. Classroom teachers and their students are supported daily by School Services Officers, an Aboriginal Education Worker, Special Education, Aboriginal Education and resource-based learning teachers, and the school counsellor. In 2009 we had specialist teachers in the arts, PE, science and Japanese. A mother tongue maintenance program is run for Serbian students. Extracurricular activities include three choirs, recorder group, rock band, percussion group, drama group, instrumental music lessons and Wakakirri (sharing stories through performance and creative arts). We offer a range of sporting opportunities, with 17 teams operating in 2009. Recently we received awards from the Primary Maths Association, won the state competition in Wakakirri and had a teacher win the Best Arts Teacher in SA.
