St Joseph's Primary School is located in the Monaro District town of Bombala. Our Mission Statement is 'to learn together, to achieve our personal best in a united, just and challenging Christ-centred community which is open to the grace of God'. The values of respect, forgiveness, understanding and encouragement are encouraged in the school. The Making Jesus Real program gives a practical dimension to values education. We have many unique and special features including an excellent teacher to student ratio that ensures students are provided with individualised learning programs. Students learn from one another, work and play together, with the older students acting as mentors for the younger ones. Our staff is committed and enthusiastic. Parents’ support for St Joseph’s is excellent, even to the point of preparing a You-Tube video of the school to demonstrate all its up-to-date features. The School Community Council ensures that all parents are fully aware of the happenings at the school and invites them to an open meeting each term to get their thoughts on each aspect of the school’s development. St Joseph's plays an important role in the Bombala community with ties to both the local preschool and the retirement village. The school takes part in significant community events and this year staged a live performance in the main street to entertain locals and visitors alike. Their works delighted all who came along to the show. St Joseph’s also played a significant role in the recent District Dance Spectacular, being the only school to perform a complete medley of songs. The local paper, The Bombala Times, noted that the school ‘enchanted the audience’. For the first time ever, the school was able to send four students to both the Stage 2 and the Stage 3 Southern Region Public Speaking Competition.
