St Francis Xavier's School Urana, NSW is a small Catholic school in the Diocese of Wagga Wagga’s system of Catholic schools. In accordance with our school’s Vision and Mission statement we aim to think, speak and act like Christ by promoting self esteem, respect, dignity and the uniqueness of each person. St Francis Xavier's School is committed to providing a quality comprehensive curriculm that promotes lifelong learners. As a community of lerning, we assist one another to find and nuture our gitfs, and to promote them for the benefit of society. Effective learning and teaching practices are relevant and important across all aspects of school life. At St Francis Xavier's we believe students learn best in a supportive, challenging and motivating environment underpinned by community, curriculum, capacity, collaboration and connection. The school conducts a learnign program which intergrates the Key Learning Areas into units of work with Science and Technology or Human Society and Its Environment focus. Due to isolation from large centres, the school is a Country Areas Program school. This program has been very beneficial for our school since 1979 when CAP commenced. CAP funds allow students, teachers and parents to stay abreast of latest learning and teaching strategies, and to gain much needed resources to support learning. Currently Information and Communication Learning technologies command a significant emphasis for learning in the 21st century. Although small in population the school community is very active within the life of the school and wider community. All families have the opportunity to be represented at decision making meetings. Parents are highly committed in providing resources to enhance learning, and through their participation in wider community activities.
