Nimmitabel Public School provides a safe and happy environment in which students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The school has served the Nimmitabel district for 141 years and is a focal point for community activity. The school's primary aim is to develop and enhance each child's potential in a supportive, caring and secure environment. We achieve this through continued emphasis on basic skills in literacy and numeracy, engaging students of all abilities through differentiated programming, and providing opportunities for the community to become involved in the school's academic and social activities. The school has a positive welfare and discipline policy that proudly promotes and recognises student achievement. Nimmitabel Public School is well-resourced with the latest technology including a connected classroom and an interactive whiteboard in each classroom. The school is supported by the Priority Schools Program, the Country Areas Program, and federal funding under National Partnerships beginning in 2011. These programs enable the employment of a third classroom teacher to support literacy development in the beginning years of school. The school is also supported by an active and committed Parents and Citizens committee. Nimmitabel Public School is a proud member of the Monaro Small Schools Network. Staff from each of the seven small schools meet regularly to develop quality learning activities, to ensure consistent teacher judgement in moderating assessment tasks, and to collaboratively plan events which promote and celebrate the success of our students in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits.
