Care Share Learn - Pelican Flat Public School delivers quality learning for all students. The genuine relationship between the staff, students and families in our small school ensures a high standard of student success and participation in our positive, nurturing environment. Our school was established in 1938 and now has extensive playing fields and well maintained old buildings which complement our excellent learning facilities. The high level of local community involvement supports all aspects of school life, in particular the promotion of citizenship and community pride. Pelican Flat Public School achieves success by providing quality literacy and numeracy programs. Support and enrichment in these programs is also provided by specialist teachers and community volunteers from within our school community. Individual learning goals are established for all students based on assessed learning needs and in collaboration with parents. The development of healthy lifestyle activities is a priority throughout our school community. In 2010 all students participated in the Premier's Sporting Challenge with 35% achieving the highest diamond level for physical activity and 40% achieving gold level. We are a Crunch & Sip school and are benefitting from the Premier's Sporting grants by participating in sport leadership workshops and fitness & skills programs. Our P&C has established a healthy food' canteen which is supported by the community. Pelican Flat Public School supports academic excellence with Information Technology resources including networked computer classrooms, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, laptops and a connected classroom. The connected classroom is currently being used for virtual excursions and inter-school student conferencing. These resources are used flexibly and creatively by teachers to enrich teaching across all the key learning areas. Our students enjoy a range of experiences in the creative and practical arts. We have two dance groups and participate in the regional Star Struck..
