Kew Primary School provides a caring and engaging learning environment with a wide range of academic, social, sporting and cultural activities that assist students to become effective learners. We have a diverse population of 534 students, with a Principal, Assistant Principal, 30 teachers and 12 support staff (equivalent full time staff = 35). We value parent involvement in classes and fundraising, as well as their contribution to a sense of community. The school recognises the rights of students, staff and families to participate in decision making processes. We value our staff, who contribute a wide range of experiences, and recognise their vital role and need for support through the provision of a rich, targeted professional learning program. Our students work in 23 classes with P.E., LOTE French, L'art (French immersion Art program) , Library, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Reading Recovery as specialist programs. A range of after hours programs provide extra-curricular activities. The school is committed to implementing programs that reflect contemporary teaching and learning practices. The 2009-12 Strategic Plan focuses on the enhancement of numeracy teaching and learning, implementation of student wellbeing initiatives and the continuous improvement of student learning through teachers working collaboratively in teams.
