Whitton Public School is a PP5 school with a population of 57 students. It is situated between Leeton and Griffith in the Riverina. We are the recipient of funding from the Priority School Funding program. The core values of the school are: integrity, excellence, responsibility and respect. Each student is encouraged to reflect these values in his or her family and social life. The school is an integral part of the town's fibre and receives strong, effective community support. We have a passionate commitment towards student welfare, underpinned by an effective peer-support program that focuses upon key, universal social values . We balance our athletics and swimming sporting achievements with a school choir and involvement with the Leeton community of schools' chess competition: (champions 2009!). Some unique features of our school commencing in 2011 include the integration of our new kitchen into our school curriculum; our expanding vegetable gardens will provide our students with wonderful opportunities to discover literacy and numeracy options within the healthy-eating/preparation environment. We will also be involved with a dance program and a fitness program guided by our Zumba instructor. An additional stream of funding commences from 2011: our involvement with a Federal Government funding program that supports further literacy/numeracy developments and more effective community-school relationships. We hope to join the Chaplaincy Program in 2011 and provide added social and moral support for our young boys: Years 3-6. Our school focus areas for 2011 will continue in the vein of 2010: healthy-eating, horticulture and individual student interest profiles but will continue the momentum gained by our inaugural entry into KROP: a creative dance/music festival. Our involvement this year was widely acclaimed and we hope to further our creative art/music and dance into 2011.
