Stella Maris is a Catholic, co-educational parish primary school, where Catholic values, ideals and attitudes are taught, practised and valued within a Christian community. Stella Maris was established in 1956 in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Beaumaris. Our staff and parents are committed to respecting the individuality of all students, while aiming to develop their physical, social, intellectual, moral and spiritual capabilities. Our broad curriculum, based on the VELS, is relevant and challenging and encourages students and staff to achieve excellence as they engage in contemporary learning and teaching approaches. Our wellbeing and curriculum programs encourage children to be optimistic, focused, independent learners and parents are encouraged to be involved in the development of their child's learning. Specialist programs are offered in Japanese, visual arts, physical education, information and communications technology, and Reading Recovery. The Parents and Friends Association actively support the school community and co-ordinates events to both build the community and raise funds for the school.
