Maidavale State School is a small, one teacher school 9 km south west of Ayr. Although our school is situated in a farm area, most of our students come from the towns of Ayr, Home Hill and Brandon as some children work better in a smaller school situation. Our Vision is to empower each student so they excel in knowledge for this century. We value individual responsibility, positive attitude, equality and respect for others. Our students have shown great community commitment this year by being involved in a number of activities on the centenary day in May as well as participating in the construction of the centenary mural. The centenary book has also been a great success. The students at our school are able to participate in a wide variety of activities involving the arts. We have a guitar teacher who comes once a week, the school provides the guitars for the students to use, art activities taken by the class teacher and specialists teachers as well as music. Although a small school of 15 students, we combine with other schools to participate in interschool sport on Fridays and for camps. Our students are involved with a number of activities involving a cleaner, green world and participate in the Reef Guardian program as well as BBIFMAC which monitors local lagoons and streams. Our school uses technology to enhance our concentration on the basics of education, Mathematics and English. This prepares our students well for changes to the world they will be working in. We are proud of our students and staff and look forward to the future.
