Mountain District Christian School (MDCS) is a small, independent, non-denominational, Prep to Year 12 Christian School located in a beautiful bushland environment near the township of Monbulk in the Dandenong Ranges. A member of Christian Education National, MDCS has as a core value a genuine desire to partner with parents who earnestly seek a holistic Christian education for their children. As such, this school community looks to encourage a strong bond between home and school, through communication as well as providing opportunities for parents and grandparents to contribute to school life, and aims to foster relationship through community events. Through its learning program, MDCS seeks to equip students to understand a Christian worldview, recognise and foster their giftedness, develop an appreciation of living within community and care for others, all within the context of a supportive Christian environment. As part of the curriculum, students are actively encouraged to see the connectedness of all areas of life and how they can faithfully respond to the world in which we live; being active stewards of creation. Student well-being is a vital component of schooling and, with its small school environment, there is a positive student culture with an emphasis on pastoral care through both teachers and the school chaplain. Students in the Senior School program are well catered for at MDCS. The school provides great access to teaching staff in small class sizes, offers students a number of pathways through the VCE, participates in the Yarra Valley VET Cluster, and utilises relationships with schools such as Mt Evelyn Christian School. Furthermore having been awarded Australian Government funding, MDCS, together with Mount Evelyn Christian School and Donvale Christian College, has established a Trade Training Centre, known as Ranges TEC, for students in Years 10-12.
