St John Vianney's is a Catholic primary school in Mulgrave in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The school was established in 1960 and was initially run by the Brigidine Sisters. St John Vianney's aims to provide high-quality relevant education which develops the potential of each student. Religious Education is central to our work and guides our policies and actions. While there is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy within the curriculum, the school also offers a second language program (Italian), and a strong Physical Education and inter-school sport program. Opportunities for students to be involved in the arts are also provided. The school has a spacious well-equipped library/IT centre and is constantly building its ICT resources and expertise at the classroom level. Student learning is promoted in a friendly and compassionate environment and supported by a dedicated and professional staff. The importance of positive respectful relationships among all community members is strongly emphasised and reflected in our practice. The importance of families in the education process is clearly recognised and nurtured in an environment of trust and open communication.
