Established in 1896, Chum Creek Primary School is a small rural school located in the upper Yarra Valley. It is central to the Chum Creek community, being one of the area's few ‘public’ facilities. Our school currently caters for 49 students from Chum Creek, Healesville and surrounding areas. It has an excellent reputation for pastoral care, providing support for students and their families. We are committed to the welfare and development of our students and foster a caring environment. We aim to promote individual development , supporting the growth of social skills in a flexible, relaxed atmosphere. We are renowned as an Environmentally Friendly community and the school is committed to helping our students learn about sustainable lifestyles. Facilities at Chum Creek Primary School include a newly-built multi-purpose room that is available for community use, general purpose classrooms, a library, an art/technology room, a community kitchen, an administrative building, vegetable gardens, water tanks, a minibus and chooks. Although damaged in the bushfires, our buildings and grounds are maintained through dedicated community support. Our school has attractive grounds despite the replanting and revegetation of areas damaged by the bushfires. Re-establishing the school and its grounds as a community asset is a focus of our ongoing building program.
