Kaniva College has 33.4 equivalent full-time staff: Two Principal class, 24.2 teachers and 7.2 Education Support Staff. Kaniva College is a rural and remote P-12 school of 230 students, the sole provider of education in the district. As such, our school strives to deliver a comprehensive educational program to meet the individual needs and interest of our students. We provide a caring and challenging learning environment that is valued and supported by our parent body. We are committed to continuous improvement and to achieving our purpose of "preparing students to thrive in a changing world by developing their social, emotional and academic capabilities and skills". We aim to achieve this purpose by implementing outstanding teaching and learning practices, where our teaching philosophy revolves around the student at the centre. The school also aims to achieve our purpose by living our values of Cooperation, Resilience, Respect, Endeavour and Consideration. Kaniva College is now in the final year of its current Strategic Plan and will undertake a School Review and complete a new Strategic Plan in 2011. Plans for connecting the whole college community to the Ultranet are well under way, with staff and students having completed extensive training. As part of the BER and the Building Futures Program, we have completed Stage 1 of our new school buildings and hope to be funded for Stage 2 in the near future.
