Burrendah Primary School caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 7 and is located in the suburb of Willetton less than 20 kilometres from Perth City. There has been steady growth in recent years and the school is expected to have approximately 480 students in 2011. The school is well respected within the local area and shares a common site with Willetton Senior High School and Castlereagh School. The school enjoys a close working relationship with these schools and the other primary schools in the area with many collaborative programs achieving very positive outcomes for students. We foster the integration of students from Castlereagh school into our classrooms and maximise every opportunity for the high school students and staff to further their learning opportunities by working with our primary students. The teaching of literacy and numeracy skills is given a high priority with students being given every opportunity to achieve to their potential. Science is another priority area with all students from Years 1-7 having specialist science teaching in a purpose built science laboratory. Health and Physical Education together with the Arts (Music, Visual Arts, Performing Arts) also have specialist programs providing a broad and balanced curriculum for the students of Burrendah Primary School. The school participates successfully in a range of inter school sporting events and 'Arts' competitions and events providing invaluable learning experiences and self development opportunities for our students. Students have the opportunity to study both Italian and Japanese throughout their years at Burrendah. The use of ICT (information communication technology) to make the learning better for students is embraced by staff and parents with our parent community providing funds for an interactive whiteboard to be installed in every classroom from Years 1 - 7.
