Belmont Primary School is an inner city school with an enrolment of 121 students from Kindergarten to Year 7. The school has a multi-cultural population having gained a large increase in the number of ESL children during the past year. Children are courteous and have a positive attitude to all aspects of school life. The school has a well structured and effective Managing Student Behaviour Policy. NAPLAN test results for years 3, 5 and 7 indicate a standard at about state average, but above average for 'like' schools. The school has a new covered assembly area and next year will see the completion of a new library and toilet upgrade. The parents are very supportive with an active P&C showing a keen interest in assisting the school, both financially and physically. Parents are very involved in the school garden with the school being a part of the Stephanie Alexander Garden Project. The small size of the school enables staff to know most of the parents on a first name basis and there is much informal communication.
