Hervey Bay Christian Academy is an independent Christian school catering for children from pre-prep to year 12. It was established in 1995 to see students evangelized, established in the truth, and equipped for life. God's Word is the foundation of practices both inside and outside the classroom. Emphasis is placed on character development according to Christ's values. The discipline policy consists of much positive reinforcement for right behavior as well as corrective measures where needed to effect behavior modification. Solid academics are delivered using an individualized methodology. Each classroom is staffed by a teacher and a teacher-aide, with additional staffing if needed for children with disabilities. The children enjoy their natural bush setting and their caring, small-school environment which allows for a high level of participation. High school students have the opportunity of competing in academic, sporting, art, craft, platform, and music events at state, national, and international levels. The Academy enjoys a fine reputation in vocal music; students bless the residents of the nursing homes in the local community throughout the year. New facilities have recently been opened, and plans for future development are underway at Hervey Bay Christian Academy.
