Box Hill North PS provides educational excellence through a relevant and evolving curriculum in a safe, happy and supportive environment. This philosophy is facilitated by an active partnership between parents, staff and students and by building on these strong relationships to maximise quality learning programs across all areas of the curriculum. Working in teams is an important focus in creating stimulating classroom programs that cater for each student’s individual needs and abilities. Students are challenged to reach their full potential through our inquiry-based approach to learning, which provides active engagement in meaningful learning experiences. Our workforce composes: 2 Principal class, 16.4 teachers, 2 support staff. The specialist team provide a comprehensive program in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, LOTE (Japanese), ESL, Reading Recovery and Physical Education. We have introduced classroom libraries into classrooms as part of our new reading program. We are a Sustainable school, introducing a school 'green team’ during 2010. All teachers implement ‘You Can Do it!’ from prep to year 6 as a main part of our student wellbeing program. We offer a range of extra-curricular activities, including lunch time clubs, sport and instrumental music. We successfully introduced a 1:1 Netbook program in 2010 for years 3 & 4 students linked to improved Literacy. This will now continue in Year 5 during 2011. We also offer a very successful Before and After school program. Box Hill North is committed to continuous improvement and achieving excellence for all 290 students.
