Bundeena Public School is the centre of a unique community situated in the heart of the Royal National Park. Students have access to a quality education in a stunning bush environment. The school is very well supported by the local community and a dedicated Parents and Citizens Association. Our dedicated staff members recognise and value the diverse learning needs of our students and strive to provide students with a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy. An active Learning Support Team facilitates and coordinates a whole school approach to assisting students with special needs at our school. This support may include: assisting gifted and talented students, intervention from the support teacher learning assistance, Reading Recovery lessons to selected students in Year 1 and school counsellor support. Student participation in the arts, environmental education, information technology and gifted education is a priority. Our art program is run by a specialist art teacher and our junior and senior studio group gives talented students an opportunity to develop skills using different media and the inspiration of artists to create unique artworks. The Information Communication Technology program benefits from a dedicated computer room, two connected classrooms and interactive whiteboards. During ICT lessons students use web-based research, student email, word processing and other ICT media prepare students for future learning in the 21st century. Valuable learning experiences occur as part of the school's Personal Development program. This includes Child Protection, Drug Education and the Bounce Back program which enhances students' understandings of the core values of the school, and helps them to develop into resilient and caring Australian citizens.
