The Mission of St. Andrew's is to value each child as an individual and a respected member of our school community; work in partnership with parents and parish to achieve a Catholic faith community; strive for excellence in all aspects of the curriculum; and create an environment where positive attitudes towards self and others are nurtured. Our school has a student population of over 800. We have 28 class groups. In recent years we have changed our learning environment from single classes to groupings of two and four classes into one, to provide different learning environments. At present our Kindergarten, Years 1, 2, 3 and 6 classes operate in open learning environments. Years 4 and 5 are taught in the traditional class groups. Students at St. Andrew's come from many different countries and cultures. They all relate well and appreciate each other’s differences. Some unique features of our school are the Strings and Enrichment Programs that have started recently. Our Strings Program operates in Years 3 and 4 classes. Private lessons are offered in violin, cello and bass playing. Our school orchestra has performed at several public functions and concerts around our community. Our Enrichment Program sees children involved in debating, chess, art gallery visits, song writing and music production. Recently the school extended its technology developments when our senior students were involved in the 'Andes Program'. Children were required to write the script for a short movie, choosing appropriate wardrobe attire and selecting and training the cast. This led to each group shooting their short movie, editing the production, showing the finished product to our Primary students and watching the voting procedure amongst the pupils to select the best production. The grand finale was our Parents Film Night where awards were presented to the winning production teams.
