Aviation High has been established to provide direct pathways for students seeking careers in the aviation and aerospace industries in Queensland. The curriculum at Aviation High has been significantly influenced and supported by the aerospace and aviation industries. It offers, to Years 8 to 12 students, Queensland Studies Authority subjects that have been contextualised with aerospace and aviation content across a broad range of industry-valued subject areas. The school, in partnership with tertiary and post school training providers aims to provide an end to end education model from the classroom to employment with the industry. The school's facilities include an Aeroskills and Aeronautics Trade Training Centre, a wind tunnel, flight simulator centre, radio room, an aircraft themed catering facility as well as aircraft control systems and physics laboratories. Although the school's curriculum aligns with career paths in the aerospace industry, students who may eventually choose not to work in the industry will still have the opportunity to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education and experience a broad enough range of curriculum offerings to ensure multiple pathways are available to them in the future. Employability skills valued by the aerospace industry may also be supportive of other industries and careers.
