Silvan Primary is situated in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges and currently caters for 40 students, with 3.5 teaching staff. The school provides an extensive and broad curriculum and has considerable strength in Maths, English and Sustainability - endorsed by our recent school review. The motto of the school is " Maximising Opportunities and Extending Potential." The school has achieved very pleasing results in all Government testing and plans to extend students to greater abilities in the future. We have made a significant investment in Computer Technologies across the school, including the use of laptops in the classroom. Silvan PS has 6 Equivalent full time staff members comprising 1 Principal Class, 3 teachers and 2 Educational Support Staff. The school has excelled in Athletics Sports and generally in all sporting activities in the Yarra Valley. The Annual School production is of the highest quality and engages all students and parents in a memorable event. The challenges for the future include extending students to achieve even greater growth in their learning, with a particular focus on Spelling, Writing and Sustainability. We look forward to the construction of two new learning centres, including a new Computer Laboratory/Indoor Assembly Area and a Homecrafts, Kitchen Garden Centre which will greatly enhance teaching and learning at Silvan Primary School in the future.
