'Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings, who are able out of their own initiative to impart purpose and direction to their lives' - Rudolf Steiner. For over 300 children in our school community, the Steiner curriculum provides an integrated programme from Playgroup, Preschool and Prep and then Class 1 to Class 8. A Steiner curriculum is child-centred and teacher directed. It is an education that acknowledges, with reverence, all that humanity has been and experienced in the past and recognises, with love and enthusiasm, the potential within the being of every child. Our curriculum relates specifically, at all levels, to the developmental stages of the child. Steiner curriculum is characterised by: 1) Class teachers from Classes 1-8; 2) conscious development of creative imagination and artistic expression in children throughout the whole curriculum; 3) balancing the three capacities of intellect, emotion and practical competencies; and 4) surrounding children with a beautiful, natural environment. Building on the play-based curriculum in Kindergarten and Prep, students flourish with a gradual introduction of formal literacy and numeracy skills. Our school has an outstanding programme of specialist subjects, including music, PE, horticulture, craft, Spanish and French. Our students shine as socially responsible and well rounded individuals, making excellent transitions into secondary schools and later into tertiary education and the workforce. The school opened in 1990 and is located on 18 acres of land. The architect-designed, rammed earth classrooms are aesthetically presented, making careful use of colour and shape to provide an atmosphere of harmony and beauty. The Board of Directors approved Strategic Plan provides an overarching guide to the work of the dedicated staff at the school. Join a thriving rural school community in Central Victoria.
