St James’ Primary Forest Lodge is a is a dynamic and welcoming inner-city Catholic systemic primary school within the Archdiocese of Sydney that has been educating children for more than 130 years. The current school population draws from more than 35 diverse cultural groups. The varying socio-economic backgrounds provide a richness of community where all are included. The school motto, Fully Alive in Christ, ensures liturgies are joyous, child-centred and prayerful with classrooms celebrating the good news. A broad educational curriculum emphasising literacy and numeracy is a priority at St James. Focussed assessment and reporting is made available to parents/carers and thorough tracking of student progress is maintained. Educating children to achieve their personal best is at the forefront of teaching practice supported by programs in Gifted and Talented, Reading Recovery, ESL, Special Education and include Indigenous support for Koori students and Pastoral Care services. After school care, keyboard lessons, choir, talent quests, debating, camp, swimming, dancing and basketball are some of the extra-curricular opportunities provided.
