Mernda Primary School was established in 1853 and is one of the oldest schools in Melbourne. Our students are provided with a well-balanced and challenging curriculum which is based on Victorian Essential Learning Standards. The teachers will be planning and working towards the effective implementation of the Australian Curriculum as it unfolds. We enrich our curriculum through the inclusion of specialist teaching in Visual Art, Physical Education, Performing Arts, ESL and Science & Sustainability. The 'Powerful Learning' DEECD initiative will continue to ensure that effective teacher instructional practice provides a pathway for children to be Literate, Numerate and Curious. Members of our school community have played a key role in the planning and relocation of our school to Mernda Village opening in February 2011. This school has been constructed through the Partnerships Victoria in Schools Project providing Mernda with 'State of the Art' 21st century buildings, grounds and resources. Our staff and students are very proud of our school and what we achieve together as a vibrant learning school community. Through a whole school approach we value Learning, Resilience, Respect, Responsibility and Trust. We currently have the equivalent of 16 full time staff: Two Principal class, 14 teachers and 5 education support staff.
