During 2010, Hallam P.S. continued to be a dynamic and culturally diverse school attracting students from within, and well beyond, the 'neighbourhood'. Enrolment in February was 305 students, and by December was 320 students including numerous transfers into, and out of, the school involving up to 30% of students. Over half of our students come from a Language Background Other Than English (LBOTE) and over half of our families are EMA recipients. Consequently, Hallam P.S. was included in the Federal Government's National Schools Partnership:Low-SES initiative, receiving $20,000 funding in Term 4 2010. Student wellbeing remains a significant and collective focus at Hallam P.S. Restorative Practices and Assertive Discipline underpin student management strategies, and attendance is closely monitored by staff and the Primary Wellbeing Officer. Students are encouraged to develop knowledge, skills, social competencies, values and aspirations to enable them to develop as global citizens. Learning for success, persistence, positive partnerships, mutual respect, trust and environmental awareness are the school's core values. The Staff comprised a Principal, 18 full and part-time Teachers and 9 Ed. Support personnel. Staff create a learning environment that is supportive and engaging. Students' participation in specialist, and other school-based, programs supports individual achievement and success beyond the classroom. Purposeful and meaningful experiences, such as the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, further enhances students' learning experiences and life skills.
