Lara Secondary College promotes excellence in every individual. Our purpose is to provide a community of care within a dynamic learning environment which enables all students to develop social and workplace skillls, by continually challenging staff and students to meet their full potential. Currently in our ninth year of operation our student numbers have stabilized at just over 800 students. The school has 63.04 equivalent full time staff, 3 Principal class and 23 education support staff. In 2010 all members of the College community were engaged in reviewing our school culture and values and our newly established values (Teamwork, Commitment, Excellence and Respect) are promoting the ongoing focus on continuous improvement in all aspects of our work as a school community Our newly established Middle Years Centre has supported the successful development a strong team structure with students in Years 7 through to 10 spending more time with fewer teachers, Our highly successful Connections program at Year 9 and Central studies program at Year 10 have contributed to our impressive results in student engagement and wellbeing and it is rewarding to see that in 2010 teacher judgements recognized that students are performing at levels higher than the State average in mathematics and english. Our focus in 2011 and beyone is to " Live our Values". Our work in personalizing student learning through analysis of indivdual student data to promote learning, with consultants in Developing Positive Behaviours and Leading Teams will ensure our success.
