Penola Catholic College is a dual campus Catholic co-educational secondary College situated in the northern suburbs of Melbourne with an enrolment of approximately 1,670 students. The College is located on two campuses, in Glenroy, for Years 7-8, and Broadmeadows , for Years 9-12. The College was established in 1995 as part of an amalgamation of three existing colleges. The Broadmeadows Campus has very strong historical links to Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and the Sisters of St. Joseph who established a babies home on the site in 1901. Our traditions, values and educational philosophy have been inspired by Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and we remain committed to our core values of faith, justice, service and compassion. Our curriculum is rich and varied with a focus on the development of sound literacy and numeracy skills. At the senior years we offer an extensive range of VCE, VET and VCAL programs. The co-curricular program offers over 40 activities, including the visual and performing arts, sports, debating, leadership development and community service. Modern facilities, including a recently completed Performing Arts Centre, Digital Language Laboratory and Hospitality wing, sit comfortably alongside fully restored historical buildings and are situated on extensive grounds with various sports facilities. Numerous support structures and specialist personnel are present to assist all students. The restorative justice philosophy underpins our pastoral care policies and procedures. We view quality relationships as pivotal to good teaching and learning, and that the relationship between the teacher, student and parent is paramount to positive change. Our parents are involved in the life of the college and are wonderful promoters of our school community.
