Red Cliffs Secondary College is the only government 7-12 state government secondary college in the Mildura area. Our current enrolment is 662, with enrolments increasing. We are a member of the Mallee Network. The school has 47.8 EFT teachers,1 Principal, 1 Assistant Principal and 18 education support staff. Positive relationships with all stakeholders are important; we endeavour to ensure that all students from our school are resilient, compassionate, successful, citizens. The school values partnerships with the parents as a vital means of building the students' connection with school. To improve literacy, numeracy and the quality of teaching, coaches work side by side with teachers. Student relationships are enhanced by the implementation of the Restorative Practices approach. Transition into Year 7 and in later years is addressed in a focused, personalised manner. Individual Learning Plans with agreed outcomes are developed in all classes for all students with disabilities. Student assessment and reporting is based on the student’s ILP as appropriate. Non attendance of any student is followed up through regualar communication with parents. Students in years 7,8 and 11 have access to netbooks, with others coming on board mid 2011. The instrumental music program has a strong profile, as does the commitment to community based project learning. All students have access to free tutoring in Maths and English before school by qualified staff. in 2010/11 the College is involved in the Rewarding Teacher Excellence Program.
