Epping Primary School is a school of approximately 320 students, 26 full time staff: 2 Principal class, 19 teachers and 5 Education Support staff. Our school community has a multi-cultural profile. The school motto is 'Aiming for Excellence in Education.' Our purpose is to provide a learning environment that is both caring and challenging and equips children of all abilities with the necessary skills and knowledge to become valued and productive members of the community. The following values are pivotal in shaping and defining what the school community stands for: respect differences, persistence, aim to do the best you can, commitment, caring, honesty, courage and confidence to try. Our school is commited to continuous improvement. We have a strong emphasis on Inquiry Learning to give students the skills to be competent and curious. We provide an excellent Reading Recovery and Language Support program. We have comprehensive extra-curricular programs such as a choir, rock band and involvement in the 'Energy Breakthrough'. Students have specialist subjects: Visual Arts, Physical Education and Computing and are involved in the social/welfare education program 'Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies'. We are developing strong links with an inner city school to share our relative strengths. This school will provide Epping Primary with an excellent model to establish an effective and sensitive ESL and refugee transition program.
