St Therese School is a Catholic primary school set in a semi-rural coastal area of Torquay and draws students from Torquay, Jan Juc and Anglesea. The core values of the school are demonstrated by teachers listening, observing, interacting and learning with and from the student, with the emphasis on the development of relationships, student wellbeing and student engagement. This child-centred approach is supported by sustainability initiatives, indoor/outdoor learning spaces, and an emphasis on aesthetically pleasing environments for the children to work within. The school achieves its mission by aiming to develop the whole child-academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally-and taking seriously its responsibility for the well-being of all students in these areas. Through a contemporary approach to learning and teaching and by building on a strong foundation through its Early Years program, teachers explore the nature of how children learn best and actively engage them in their own learning. The school plays an important role in the community through connections with a variety of groups, environmental activities, local excursions and incursions, and links with the parish.
