Grace Lutheran College, established 1978, is a community based, Christian, co-educational day school, open to students without discrimination as to class, race or belief. In 2008, Grace opened a second campus at Caboolture and introduced Year 7 students on both campuses. It is now organised into Middle School (Years 7-9) and Senior School (Years 10-12). 2010 enrolment is 1740 (1515 Rothwell - Yrs 7-12 and 225 Caboolture - Years 7-10, expanding to Yr 12 in 2012). Grace has extensive subject choices (34 in Yrs 10-12) and caters for a wide range of students including those needing academic extension and learning support. Students in Year 7 experience a range of secondary subjects while learning in core groups to promote pastoral care. Students in Years 8 and 9 can choose 4 electives and in Year 10 students choose Senior subjects to give them a head start on Year 11 and 12. Year 12 students can study extension and University subjects while still at school. Year 12 results over the years have been very pleasing and a large proportion of students achieve tertiary entrance. A Vocational Education Department co-ordinates a range of certificate courses and school-based traineeships. Information Technology is accessible to all students at all times through wireless networking, computer laboratories and a laptop loan pool. Grace has a fine reputation in sport, performing arts, visual arts, film and TV, debating and other co-curricular activities. All major, and many minor, sports are offered and many Grace students and teams achieve at the highest level. In performing arts, over 20 ensembles perform and tour regularly. A great strength of the College is its emphasis on pastoral care, whereby students are known as individuals and nurtured in community. A structured Pastoral Care programme allows students to learn important lifeskills, understand their mental health, prepare for careers, support one another and work in teams.
