Heidelberg Primary School has a history of providing excellence in education for over 160 years. Our school prides itself on having a strong set of core values based around Integrity, Care, Cooperation and Respect. These underpin the work of the school. This school has 17 fulltime staff: two Principal class, 18 teachers and 7 Education Support Staff. Heidelberg PS is committed to improving the achievement of all students and offers a challenging academic program based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). There is a primary focus placed on the development of Literacy and Numeracy skills. Specialist classes in Science, Art and Music, Phys Ed, Japanese and computers. Information and Communication Technologies play a major role in our program, with computers and multi-media used to enhance teaching and learning in each subject area. Extra-curricular activities include interschool sport, instrumental music, choir, learning intervention and extension, student leadership, buddy program. This is complemented by the strong support we receive from our school community. Strong links with the local kindergartens and secondary schools ensure a smooth transition process into and beyond HPS. The school’s facilities include carpeted air-conditioned teaching spaces, a library, Multi-purpose room, specialist Art and Science rooms, purpose built Out of School Hours building.The school is anticipating the major upgrade of its buildings to be completed in 2011.
