Toowoomba Grammar School, one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland, was founded in 1875. The mission of the School is to deliver 'a quality education designed for boys.' The School is non-denominational and maintains a traditional academic curriculum, with the vast majority of school leavers pursuing tertiary education. A worthwhile program of vocational education is also available. The School has an achievement orientation through which the highest expectations of boys and staff are set. The curriculum and teaching are directed toward the needs and interests of boys and the School continually achieves very impressive academic results. Toowoomba Grammar School is a day and boarding school for boys. There are approximately 1000 boys enrolled from the Prep year in the Junior School to Year 12 in the Senior School. The School is also one of the largest boarding schools in Australia, with approximately 300 boarders from throughout Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, the School offers exceptional opportunities in the co-curricular area. The School is one of the nine member schools of the nationally known Great Public Schools (GPS), with arguably the highest level of schoolboy sporting competition in the country.
