Heywood and District Secondary College is a small 7-12 College of approximately 175 students of whom 6% are Koori. The HDSC community is committed to providing a supportive, comprehensive and challenging education for all students. We are proud of the extensive community links that we have forged and are continuing to develop through our curriculum choices and Community Links programs. We aim to be valued as an innovative and outstanding College that promotes the partnership between parents, staff and the wider community. We support and empower students to accept responsibility for personal and academic growth and provide a safe and caring environment that allows all students to achieve their potential. Each student is well known to fully qualified staff and there is positive staff-student relationships. The College has 28.1 equivalent full time staff: 2 principal class, 20.3 teachers and 5.8 Educaton Support staff. A new science centre will be completed in 2011 to augment our well maintained and resourced buildings and grounds. We are also investigating 21st Centuary technologies to assist with subject offerings and to broaden the learning community.
