The purpose of Boronia Heights College (BHC) is to 'provide a stimulating, creative and respectful learning community that engages students to develop a love of learning and become effective and caring members of a global society'. Our core values are Respect, Integrity and Love of Learning. Students are immersed in Literacy and Numeracy based on ability groupings within VELs levels. Learning is personalised with core subjects complemented by selected studies focusing on student passions and interests. Students learn how to get along with others through the explicit teaching of pro-social behaviour, the peer support program and house system. Students set personal learning goals each semester and in junior school identify a charity or organisation they would like to support. Older students are encouraged to learn more independently, broaden their understanding of the local and global community and consider a range of academic and vocational pathways. Senior students focus on achieving their goals to the best of their ability. A Teaching and Learning Coach works with teacher teams to develop integrated curriculum and to identify strategies to maximise learning opportunities. BHC has 25 equivalent full time teaching staff, 2 Principal Class and 9 Education Support staff. The College is merging with Boronia Primary School. Construction of Stage One has commenced on the Boronia Primary School site.
