Hawthorn Secondary College is a coeducational 7 -12 College with a culturally and linguistically diverse student population of 527. We have a well established international students program, including Language Centre facilities. A range of successful pathway options are offered from Year 10 onwards, comprising VCE, VET and VCAL studies. We are also a Registered Training Organisation in Multimedia and Digital Imaging. The College has 58.89 equivalent full time staff: two principal class, 42.57 teachers and 14.31 education support staff. We seek to challenge all students to become optimistic, resilient, creative and critical thinkers. We promote our school values of diversity, aspiration, responsibility and endeavour throughout the curriculum. With a focus on personalising learning, each student is supported during their various stages of secondary schooling through pastoral and mentoring programs, specialist classroom support (numeracy, literacy and integration), and individual careers counselling. Individual learning plans assist students in goal setting and reflecting on their learning. We actively engage with parents and community to ensure the learning environment is enriching, positive and inclusive, underpinned by our belief that every child can experience success.
