Murrumbeena Primary School has continued a tradition of excellence for over 90 years. Our school’s mission is ‘To provide a challenging and dynamic learning environment which will engage all students, and equip them with the appropriate skills and knowledge to be active and successful members of the 21st century global society’. Our curriculum is founded on an international perspective, based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), in which we are a Candidate School. Our classrooms offer flexible spaces which cater for the needs of individual students and cooperative working groups. A new BER building, to open in 2011, will provide an additional 2 learning spaces and a Stephanie Alexander kitchen/dining area. A challenging, personalised inquiry learning program, which meets all curriculum requirements, includes the specialist areas of ICT/Library, PE, Sport, Art, Music and Japanese. Our staff comprises 2 Principal Class, 30 teachers and 6 support staff who work together to provide a comprehensive, engaging learning program. ICT plays a strong role as a tool for rich student learning, and includes desktops, laptops, and interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. The grounds are well established and include a swimming pool, synthetic running track, gymnasium, adventure playgrounds and sandpit areas. Newly developed areas provide a range of passive and active recreational facilities.
