Nichols Point Primary School works hard to use the flexible learning design of their buildings to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed. The school places great emphasis on its values Respect, Responsibility, Teamwork and Community. A collaborative team model and professional learning strategies provides the school with the opportunity to build teacher capacity. Teachers plan, teach, model, reflect and obtain feedback on a daily basis together. Data is extensively used to monitor student progress and teach according to students' individual learning needs. The Attitudes to School opinion data indicates students are very positive about their school. Both 2010 data and the 4 year average for Nichols Point compared to other Victorian Government schools is higher. The netbook program in Years 3-6 (2011) enables every student to take home a laptop device which enhances student learning and engagement. Students enjoy a wide range of extra curricula programs and they are involved in a very strong sporting program both within the school and the community. Extracurricular activities include digital publishing, vegetable gardening, designing and constructing a BBQ, instrumental music, cooking, photography and animation. The school offers an Out of School Hours Care service. There is strong parent involvement in learning spaces, Student Led Conferences, Reading Before School, School Council, Parents Association and the annual Country Carnival. The school has 27.49 equivalent full-time staff: 2 Principal class, 18.4 teachers and 7.09 Education Support Staff.
