Located on Brisbane's northern bayside, the Australian Trade College - North Brisbane, was established by the Australian Government in 2007. With a strong vocational focus, the College caters for domestic students in Australian School-based Apprenticeships (ASbAs) as well as providing education and training for international students. The curriculum enables Year 11 and 12 students to study in a co-educational, independent school setting, while gaining their trade qualifications. The delivery of trade training in the state-of-the-art industry standard facilities and best practice curriculum has led to the achievement of above target outcomes for students. Students are able to graduate Year 12 with their Queensland Certificate Education and can achieve up to 45% of their Apprenticeship competencies. The College offers a range of ASbAs in the identified 'skills needs' areas of Hospitality, Building and Construction, Automotive, Metal and Engineering and Electro technology. Students also study English, Maths, Business and IT and Workplace Practices. The College vision is to be a global leader of vocational education and training and was named Construction School of the Year at the 2009 Construction Skills Queensland Awards.
