My Schools Website – School Profile Mt Maria College Petrie is situated in the Pine Rivers Shire, just north of Brisbane in South East Queensland. The College's mission is to provide quality inclusive education to approximately 250 students from Year 8 to Year 12. We do this by fostering and promoting an atmosphere of acceptance and a celebration of diversity. We value and nurture positive relationships built on trust and respect for the dignity of each individual. The College is situated in a bushland setting with expansive grounds and modern facilities spread over a large area. The College also has an agricultural section which looks after a diverse range of plants and animals. Mt Maria College often displays livestock and produce at local shows and fetes. A unique feature of our College is the fact that each year approximately 30% of the student population has some form of formally-recognised learning need, and as a result the majority of our classes are small with all class numbers under 25. We offer an excellent course of study in Years 11 and 12 for all those students who do not wish to undertake an OP (Overall Position) pathway. However, many of our students still access tertiary studies via the Tertiary Rank system. In addition, over the last five years we have entered into partnerships with many local businesses to improve career pathways for our students consequently, all Year 11 & 12 students take part in at least one day per week of work placement, traineeship or apprenticeship.
