St Michael's is a small Catholic primary school located 40 km north-east of Traralgon that enrols students from Heyfield and surrounding districts. It was originally established in 1954 by the Sisters of St Joseph and is now led by lay teachers. St Michael's maintains a strong commitment to the Josephite's Order core values of Truth, Faith, Hope and Love. Building works have been completed on an extension and refurbishment of the existing multi-purpose room to an arts space for the performing arts, music classes and art classes. Renovations to the library have included an information technology centre that has allowed individual access to computers for every student in a class, and also has become a hub for students to develop their skills and knowledge through various multimedia projects. Every classroom have been refurbished to make them more student-centred and user friendly, including interactive whiteboards. At St Michael's we take seriously our responsibility for the wellbeing of students and staff with an effective pastoral care system. Our parent community is actively involved in a variety of school activities thus promoting a warm caring and friendly environment.
