St Macartan's is a large Catholic primary school located on the Morington Peninsula. The school has an enrolment of approximately 500 students with many families on a waiting list. The school has a 111 year history with the Sisters of Mercy, with the school and parish maintaining strong ties with the order. In 2009 St Macartan's relocated to Bungower Rd as the school had outgrown the Tanti Ave site. The school is a modern facility, catering for the needs of the students learning in the 21st Century. The school has received design and sustainability awards in the short time that it has been opened. The school's sustainability platform has been embedded in our teaching and learning sphere. The school offers many extra-curricular activities for the students in its care including outdoor education, surf lifesaving, Dance Fit, sport aerobics, chess club gardening club to name just a few of the activities on offer to our students. All our students participate in the sustainable practices of one of the following teams; Biodiversity Team, Waste Team, Water Team and Energy Team. We promote a healthy lifestyle among our students which includes a strong student wellbeing focus. The school has strong ties with the local community. We actively seek partnerships within our local community. We aslo have a very supportive parent group. As a school we wish for our students to achieve spiritually, emotionally and academically, and to make a difference to their world however big or small that world maybe.
